Brush Wellman Inc. Alloy Products
  • MRI compatible non-ferrous alloys with ultra low magnetic distortion used in MRI structural/bearing components, fixtures and for robotic surgery devices
  • Strip and rod alloys for high reliability electronic and electrical connector terminals
  • High conductivity plastic mold tooling alloys to provide rapid cooling, accurate dimensions and stress-free plastic parts

Alloy Products, Brush Wellman's largest business unit, manufactures copper and nickel-based alloy systems metallurgically tailored to meet customers' most exacting performance requirements. Alloy Products operates domestic manufacturing facilities in Elmore and Lorain, Ohio, and Reading, Pennsylvania, and distributes worldwide through a network of company-owned service centers and outside distributors.

Strip products, the larger of Alloy's two product families, includes thin gauge pre- cision strip and thin diameter rod and wire beryllium alloys that are sold into the tele- communications and computer, automo- tive, medical and appliance markets. Major applications for strip products include connectors, contacts, switches, relays and shielding. Bulk products, Alloy's second product family, includes copper and nickel-based alloys manufactured in rod, tube, plate, bar and other customized forms that are sold into the industrial component market, which includes oil and gas, plastic tooling, heavy equipment, aerospace, portions of telecommunications and computer and other markets. Applications for bulk products include plastic mold tooling, bushings, bearings and welding rods. While the majority of bulk products also contain beryllium, the ToughMet® and MoldMAX XL® families of copper-nickel-tin non-beryllium contain- ing alloys are increasingly gaining favor in the marketplace.
